Our discord continues to stay on a hot run. A subscriber favorite of our Master J won 100k, shipping a DFS contest. He used Andy’s core of Xander, Cantlay, Thor, and Keegan Bradley to take home a master payday. Sedgefield Country Club is a classical, Donald Ross design that features all the staples of a true Carolina course. Narrow, tree-lined fairways, pine straw, patchy Bermuda-grass rough, and slick Bermuda-grass greens will provide a worthy challenge, especially if conditions are dry. Sedgefield is a Hall of Fame member of the “Short, Positional, Less-than-Driver” category of golf courses.

Yet unlike the other Ross design on the schedule in Detroit Golf Club prior to the renovation, Sedgefield has actually stood up quite well to the advancement of technology while remaining largely untouched. It is remarkable to me how solid of a job the old school Ross design does at taking driver out of a player’s hands and actually placing an emphasis on finding the short grass.

Yet players are still able to comfortably club down and find themselves with a wedge in their hands often, which is largely due to its amount of short (by today’s standards) par fours. A whopping eight par fours measure between 400 and 450 yards on the scorecard, which explains why 125 to 175 yards is the key range of focus, and controlling medium short irons will be of paramount importance this week. Even the par five fifth hole is a middle iron for longer hitters these days. The most successful Wyndham player of the last 15 years, Webb Simpson, described the challenge aptly.

"It goes back to the point of the golf course. Bay Hill, Tiger won so many times. Firestone produces long hitters winning there. Depending on the golf course, you can kind of create your own pool of winners that are usually going to win there, whereas this course, like I said, it favors nobody. Most everybody in the field has a legitimate chance to win whereas you know, maybe Torrey Pines, I can't remember the last time somebody who didn't bomb it winning there. That's a place where you take out 50% of the field from the start of the week."

5. Sungjae Im $7,700

We're so back! Sungjae seems to be finally rounding into form after a tough 2026. In this space we've detailed the ways in which he spiked at The Open, let us (ok, just me) down the following week at the 3M Open, and rebounded at the Rocket Classic after he was featured in this space. It's well documented that Sungaje's irons have been the primary issue, but he's now gained on approach in 2 of 3 events. A word of caution, though; he's trending in ownership, and he's played in 7 straight events dating back to the US Open, although truthfully that's pretty commonplace for Sungjae Im.

4. Ryo Hisastune $7,300

I don't know how we landed on the nickname Sippy Cup and not The Little Sipper, but no matter -- Hisatsune's taking his water bottle to big places this week. We're a long way out from the incredible stretch early in the year where Hisatsune was a mainstay in winning lineups. His T2 at Torrey Pines was the start of a brilliant run that included top-10s in Phoenix, Pebble Beach, and Valero as well as a very impressive T13 at The Players. Low finishes were harder to come by after that, but Ryo hasn't missed a cut since the season's opening event -- the Sony Open. He's lost strokes off the tee just twice all season. And at a course that strongly favors driving accuracy, Hisatsune is one of the most accurate drivers of the ball on the Tour. Yes, the putter is a concern -- he's lost strokes putting in 7 of his last 8 contests -- but this graphic may have something to say about that...

One and Done: Jackson Koivun

I had Ben Griffin last week at the Rocket Classic who I was quite bullish on, however, he let many people down in the community with a missed cut. My cold streak continues in OAD with the clock ticking with only a couple of tournaments left.

This week at the Wyndham Championship, I am picking Jackson Koivun.

I don’t want to overthink it this week. This kid is a complete stud and won the 3M Open a couple of years ago. I believe its a great course fit as Koivun is one of the best short to middle iron players, along with being arguably the best putter in this field too. You have to make a ton of birdies this week and Koivun is ready to do so.

It’s that time of year again where in the golf twitter community people start debating picks. Some say it’s the most toxic time of the year where everyone is going at each other's throats about the captain picks. Personally, I love these team competitions and debating these selections.

For this exercise, I am going to give who my six captains picks would be for Team USA only. As we get closer and closer to the captain selections, I will also give my International picks too.

As I mentioned last week, I believe there are two spots up for grabs as Gotterup, Clark, JT, Xander are locks to be picked by Sneds. However, I did make a change to my rankings. At Snedeker’s press conference the other day, he really emphasized finding the best players to win this event. Obviously you want to find the best players, but as BK said, there’s a disconnect with what the goal is for Snedeker and what the goal is for American golf fans.

After listening to Snedeker’s comments, I do think he is going to pick Patrick Cantlay on this team. His match play record speaks for himself, going 15-6-0 in Ryder and President Cup matches. I don’t believe Cantlay has done much at all to deserve a spot on this team, however, there aren’t many others that have shown a lot to warrant a spot.

I still do have Jackson Koivun on this team, despite Snedeker saying that he won’t put him on the team just for being young. Koivun’s best trait is being an elite putter, which wins in match play. I do believe he gives them the best shot to win.

After winning his first PGA Tour event of his career last week, Michael Thorbjorsen is in the bubble to make his first United State President’s Cup team. I don’t think him winning the Rocket Classic makes him an auto lock to be at Medinah in September. Thor needs to have a strong FedEx Cup playoffs to really make it hard for Sneds not to use a captains pick on him. As he has mentioned, Sneds isn’t taking players on this team for just being young. Thor has a legit shot to make this team and needs to continue to stay play elite golf.

Congrats to our very own Brian Kirschner for finally breaking through and hitting an outright this year. He has been on Thor for most of the year and it was only fitting for BK to hit Thor for his first PGA Tour win.
